A man has been arrested following a police pursuit through Herne Bay.
The chase happened around 11pm last night (23rd November) and started after a patrol spotted a Ford Escort van being driven erratically in the Calcott Hill area. The driver failed to stop for the police and sped off taking police on a chase lasting around 5 minutes and ending in May Street, Hillborough.
During the chase the van collided with a police car.
The driver and passenger made off from the vehicle and officers arrested a 33-year-old man nearby. He was from the Herne Bay Area.
He was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, theft of a motor vehicle, failing to stop, criminal damage and assault on police, and has been released pending further enquiries. The car has been seized along with £3,000 worth of lead, which was discovered in the vehicle.
