HERNE BAY @ NITE BLOG - UPDATED 5th May 2008

Introduction
Hi ya I’m Joe 90 and welcome to the HERNE BAY @ NITE blog page, the late night radio show on www.radiocabin.co.uk. It’s what night time radio is all about!!! Every Monday night, live at 10pm, join me for three hours of night time banter, laughter, listener participation and the greatest mix of music from yester-year to the current day.
The show has become very popular since we officially started on 29th October 2007. We’ve had listeners from local Herne Bay, Whitstable, Canterbury, Folkestone, London, Stevenage, Gateshead, Oxford, Scotland in fact across the whole of the country, even in the United States!!! This is FANTASTIC!!! The show wouldn’t be what it is without your support, thank you.
Since we started the show in October 2007 the show has grown in strength. We’ve had more listeners, more chances to win and more participation from you. This includes our newest feature we started this year called, NITETIME SUPERSTARS.
- LATEST GOINS-ON IN THE WORLD OF Joe '90' OUTSIDE OF THE STUDIO
Where the hell has this week gone? Seems like only yesterday since I wrote the blog for last week.
Glorious sunshine over this bank holiday weekend lets just hope it continues especially as the summer season is just around the corner. It’s been another busy week for me this week outside of the studio, but isn’t it always. Lol
Tuesday was my little poppets 3rd birthday. It was a great day in the ’90 household. As you can imagine she received lots of toys, which if I’m honest, me and the wife are finding hard to find places for. Maybe another clear out day is in store very soon, lol. She enjoyed the day and she wanted to thank all the listeners last week who sent their best wishes to her, she was well chuffed, so thank you.
Apart from all that excitement, it was another week at work. I returned this week and yes, after being away for nearly all of April I did find it hard to settle back in. It was like going into a new job after being away for all that time. On Saturday was the day my daughter was looking forward to. It was party day in the local kids play arena. I didn’t realise how much of a headache you get in a place like that. It’s probably because of all the noise etc. All of her friends from pre-school turned up except one who unfortunately had chicken pots, bless!!
They all played, had food, ran around like little lunatics and the good thing was by the time it all finished you could see all the kids were exhausted. Oh yes, an early night for the poppet. She was finding it so hard to keep her eyes open once it had finished. But all in all, it was a great day and yes, there were more presents to find spaces for. Lol
For the rest of the bank holiday weekend it was a spot of gardening for me. The lawns needed mowing and the edges need tidying up plus some all important chilling too!!
That’s it for this week, more coming your way next time. Have a great week what ever you’re up to. Just remember it’s a short one this week because of the bank holiday. Those of you that were working, I truly feel for you. That’s because the end of the month bank holiday ill be working, so I know how you feel. Look after yourself and I look forward to hearing from you on Monday, live at 10pm.
And remember, as always……………………………………Joe 90 loves ya!!!!
THE BLOGSTER FILLS IN - By Damon 'The Blogster' Oldacre
'Any chance you could cover HB@N on the 7th April mate, I'm working nights' . These were the words echoed by the master that is Joe 90.
'Of course I will mate, it'd be a pleasure', I replied.
What I didn't know, was that I was gonna have a naff night at work two nights before the show, leaving me very tired, but so it was. Anyway, the day of the show arrived and I thought 'I could really do without this', but as always, everything turned out OK.
Joe had given me loads of bits to keep the show in check, including a wind up by Penky (my favorite bit), my only issue being I couldn't read some of his writing. It was nearly as bad as mine lol. But the show got underway, and once the first 5 minutes were up, I relaxed into it a bit. I must say, compared to my usual Saturday show which is quite quiet, this was a completely different experience. E-mails continually coming in, even some from a Krafty wannabe, posing as the legend himself which through me out a bit. But altogether, it was very enjoyable, and being so busy meant I didn't have time to get tired.
I still prefer to sit back on a Monday night, 10pm - 1am and relax listening to Joe 90, but I'll always be happy to cover when work calls. It was a pleasure and good fun.
Thanks for all of you who listened on the 7th April and those of you who got in touch with the show.

BUMTECH from the UNITED STATES on HERNE BAY @ NITE
On the 03/03/08 HERNE BAY @ NITE’S, NITETIME SUPERSTARS were pleased to play a tune from Bumtech, a US indie rock band.
Bumtech got in touch with Radio Cabin a few weeks before and kindly asked if we could give their album some UK airplay.
So we did and they were welcomed by listeners with open arms. We received some positive feedback that will be passed on to Bumtech.
HERNE BAY @ NITE will be featuring Bumtech on the show, giving them as much UK airplay as possible over the coming months.

CABIN GIVEAWAY
What fun we’ve had with this since I started a new format. At the beginning I asked you to listen out for a song and when you heard it, the first person to call the studio won – simple. But I thought about this and decided that was too easy. I needed the listeners to use their brains in order to win. So I decided to change things and make the CABIN GIVEAWAY more exciting, challenging, adventurous and harder and that’s what I did.
Each week after 11:00pm I now read out the CABIN GIVEAWAY question for you the listeners to answer. You have 2 hours to try and answer the question. You can even enter as many times as you like. If the question isn’t answered correctly before the end of the show then it gets rolled over to the following week. But…in return the prizes increase too! Week 1 we start off with basic Radio Cabin goodies including car stickers, pens, key fobs and a HERNE BAY @ NITE signed poster. If the question continues to baffle listeners then each week I add to the goodie bag. This may include absolutely anything – I even chuck in CD’s and chocolate!!! That’s if I haven’t eaten them. Lol. Once the question has been answered correctly, we send out the prizes to the lucky listener and the following week we start all over again.
So if you fancy having a go at answering the question and adding your name the our list of winners on the CABIN GIVEAWAY then make sure your listening after 11:00pm on a Monday nite for your chance to win.WINNERS SO FAR ON THE CABIN GIVEAWAY INCLUDE
John from Greenhill
Stacey from Medway
Alan from Hampton
Trevor from Medway
Steve from Broomfield
Karen from Beltinge
Jo from Beltinge
Ollie Davies from Folkestone
David Carmicheal from Glasglow
Samantha Bishop from Folkestone

Status Quo Gig at the Fairfield Halls in Croydon – 15/11/2007
Finally I’ve managed to download the pictures I took at the Quo gig back in November!!! Apologies if you checked the blog regularly since November to find that they stil hadn't been downloaded but they are here now for your enjoyment. Remember these are actual pics I took from my mobile at the gig that night in a very cold Croydon.
If you’ve never been to a Quo concert then I would seriously recommend it. Check out the Quo website:
Also check out my pic that Shout! did for me on his website www.shoutdisco.co.uk and click on the link ‘SHOUT with Radio Cabin', it’ll make you giggle. LOL
NITETIME CHALLENGE
Another popular feature on HERNE BAY @ NITE and we haven’t done one for a while so we must be long over due for one.
So far we’ve had the mighty Trev stuff 40 Maltesers all at once in his mouth. Stacey went barking one evening too and achieved a respectable 12 doggie biscuits in her mouth, Andrew managed a well deserved 9 cookies all at once in his trap!!! They’ve all made my eyes water. Ouch!!!
Just before Xmas we had Leah and Katie from Reculver battle it out and have a go at stuffing as many Maltesers as possible in their mouths which was funny.
We also had our very own Damon the ‘BOBSTER’ Oldacre (Saturday lunchtimes Midday til 1:15pm on www.radiocabin.co.uk) have a go with mince pies. Check out the pictures on how they all got on.
Check out the pics of our night time challengers and their challenges:

Fancy taking part in a Nite Time Challenge?
Do you have something edible to put in your mouth?
Can you manage a large amount of it?
