Radio Cabin Awarded Community Radio Licence
Broadcasting regulators Ofcom have announced the award of a community radio licence to Herne Bay's Radio Cabin. A community licence will give Herne Bay its very own radio station, which will provide everything local to Herne Bay for Herne Bay.
Radio Cabin's Chairman Peter Jell said, "This is fantastic news, and all our hard work in putting the application together has been worth it. This has been a long time coming and I am so excited about this exciting new venture. We heard about the news but had to keep it to ourselves which was hard because we are all so excited."
Peter would like to thank all Radio Cabin's members for making this bid successful, he would also like to thank all supporters from Local MP Sir Roger Gale, Bay Promo Team, Herne Bay Town Partners and local councillors for their support.
So what happens now, Radio Cabin have two years to officially launch the station, but the hard work starts now. We are looking for new members to come on board, this could be in various roles from presenting shows, assisting in outside broadcasts, reading local news bulletins or on the newly formed listeners panel.
We will also be able to offer advertising deals for local businesses at very affordable prices, this will give them the opportunity to advertise on a platform that could be out of their price range for advertising. We will attend as many local events as possible and broadcast from there live, so their events gets as much radio coverage as possible.
On Air 2016
Radio Cabin also has its Restricted Service Licence to look forward to, which this year, runs from the 13th August - 28th August 2016 on 105.3FM. This will cover the major events the seaside town of Herne Bay has to offer. Starting with the Herne Bay Carnival on our first day of broadcast. We will be broadcast the whole day of The Herne Bay Air show live, with all commentary including the Red Arrows. Finally, the Herne Bay Festival, with live broadcasts from many of the free events.
